Varun P V is a Software Engineer at Confluent, with a keen interest in distributed systems. He is currently contributing to building stream governance for the DataInMotion platform. With over three years of relevant experience, Varun has worked with some of the leading companies in the industry, including Capillary and Amazon. During his time at Amazon, Varun was a Data Engineer in the Business Intelligence unit of the Last mile Analytics team. He provided insights and solutions to increase the efficiency of the package delivery process. Varun was instrumental in developing a time series forecasting model in R using ARIMA, Exponential smoothing, and neural network. The model achieved 90% accuracy with the test data. He also designed and developed a web portal for Quality control auditors using Python Django web framework and MySQL database. This portal helped improve the geocode quality associated with each customer address to achieve a higher delivery success rate. Varun developed various metrics in the portal for computing the real-time productivity and efficiency of the auditors, which were then used to bring transparency in the appraisal process of the auditor. Varun holds a Master of Technology in Computational and Data Science from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and a Bachelor of Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani - Goa Campus. His tech stack includes Software Engineering, Web development, Data Engineering, Python, Django, Neural Networks, and MySQL.
